Small House Churches—Not Big Church Houses

We need two or three or four disciples meeting in homes, learning how to follow Christ all the way to manifested sonship. That will do the job. God always works that way–in small gatherings in homes, not in huge state of the art auditoriums.

It is a mistake to expect thousands, hundreds, or even scores of people to respond to these truths. Why? Because as Christ said, “Few there be to find this way of truth” And, because “many are called, but few are chosen.” In other words, few will be elected for the 100 fold walk. And “where two or three are gathered together, there I am in the midst.” It will be small groups in hundreds of places throughout the earth who will eventually communicate with each other, as they get on the same page with Christ.

Are you saying that there won’t be other Christians in the big churches. There will be others, but they will have not aspired to be like the apostles and prophets of old. It is because their leaders have told them that they cannot be like the Savior. Consequently, their spiritual growth will be stunted.

Why a Small Group?

Why? We are admonished by what happened to the tribes of Jacob/Israel. It was always a small group that really knew God and His will for their time. Look at the patriarchs, Moses, Elijah and all the prophets. They were not pastors of large congregations. They even sometimes walked alone with God. We must not think it strange to be in that condition.

After fleeing Egypt at forty, Moses tended flocks with Jethro, his father-in-law. He waited forty years on Yahweh’s visitation and direction. He like other prophets chosen by God walked on practically alone.

Elijah was so alone that he thought he was the only prophet in all of Israel. But God told him, “I have 7,000 tiny groups scattered around this world who will do My will in surrendering to Me that I may reproduce Myself in them.

Look at Gideon’s 300. 10,000 showed up to fight, but God chose out 300. He did not want them to get the big head thinking that it was their great big army that had won the day. And the 300 did it God’s way, not the way of the world, not like the megachurches. They have their audience and followers. But so do I, saith Yahweh.

The way of the prophets of Yahweh is a lonely path. It’s going to be small groups to start out. That is His way as seen throughout the scriptures. But they will go out and find others to love and help and hopefully bring into the deeper calling.

We are talking about the fulfilling of God’s purpose of reproducing Himself. Very few, if any, of the denominations believe that human beings can be used to do this. They do not believe that Christ can be formed in us.

But this message of being His son or daughter is a fire. And who can stand close to the fire? For it will burn out all the impurities and assumptions about God and will light the path for the completion of God’s plan.

The first fruit elect company of which we speak will be small in each field of grain.  Those ordained by Him to bear 100 fold fruit will have their little flocks to love and care for and nurture for God’s sake. They will be meeting in house churches after turning their backs on big church houses. They will be teaching little flocks. Kenneth Wayne Hancock

You need a church for the masses to hear God’s Word.
We had small groups in our church to meet in homes during the week for further study.
Those were great times when we grew in the Lord.
Inviting people to our small groups was hard but we tried,
You need a pastor to preach the Word with power and conviction !

    • Thank you for your thoughts. Those pastors are out there but are few. Herein lies the problem. Too many church houses are full of people hungering for God’s vision but are fed the pabalum of false concepts.

Of course there are many churches not preaching the Word of God the way they should ! But there are many that do and this is important to find them !
When I was 22, my new girl friend invited me out to a Gospel believing church. I had never heard such a message in my life and in due time I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior .Now at 88 and never looking back my life has been made rich in the saving knowledge of Jesus !
I belong to a Evangelical Baptist Church which preaches the Gospel and water baptism. Bible reading, yes. but telling the Word of God to others
about the good news ! Let your life show it, talk is cheap actions clinches it
People are going to hell, are we concerned about that ?
We must be ambassadors for Christ,, a life dedicated for lost souls !
That is why Sunday school is so important, their minds are open for new adventures like knowing God !
One Baptist church I attended for years had over 900 in attendance for Sunday School, Our God is a big God, think like Him
Growing in Christ is meant for everyone, you will never know God completely, He just keeps on giving and giving ! And we want to share at every level possible !
I an still growing through my 66 years, but am near the gates of pearly !
Go to the ends of the earth and proclaim, even in your neighorhood !
        Thankyou Ken and Julia !

  3. God has chosen us to be separate from the world, and you have written so clearly how it is not a huge gathering who will sacrifice their life to live solely for God. It is not I who live, but Christ who lives in me! He did not follow the crowds, but did His Fathers will no matter how unpopular it was.
We are the few in number that make a difference.
(Deuteronomy 7:6-10) For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. Know therefore that the LORD thy God, he is God, the faithful God, which keepeth covenant and mercy with them that love him and keep his commandments to a thousand generations; And repayeth them that hate him to their face, to destroy them: he will not be slack to him that hateth him, he will repay him to his face.
    Blessings.

    • Thanks so much, Julia, for your encouraging comments and likes. There really are but a few of us called and chosen by our Father to share His purpose and plan: to reproduce Himself–in us! How glorious! Such grace, which is all we need. It is sufficient. My articles on Immortality Road and my books are slanted to help others grow up to be His princes and princesses in the Kingdom of God, soon to be established here on earth. Welcome, sister in Christ. Please continue to like and comment. It is all “according to the power that works within us.” God bless you and yours. Wayneman

      • Your website is very encouraging as you understand the true walk of a christian. You are not lukewarm, and stand on the truth of the word to which you were called. Many Blessings Wayneman.

      • Your encouraging words are very rare towards this vessel. They are like cool water found in an arid steppe. Julia, help me spread these words from Him. He has 7,000 who have not bowed the knee to Baal. I know that we can find them. kwh

      • YES! I too have been searching for those 7,ooo as well. I’m on board to spreading the message our Father has written on our hearts and minds to take to the nations. Stay Strong in Him.

      • Your faith energizes me. God works in another dimension [water into wine, raising Lazarus from the dead after four days.] Show me a miracle, and we will see another dimension. A few walked in that spiritual invisible dimension. Think Elisha, Moses, Peter, Paul and John, and a few others…They were in and out of that dimension, like Peter walking on the water, and Christ, of course. That is another dimension.

I am beginning to see the Supreme Being as that very DIMENSION. “For we live, move, and have our being in Him. “In” Him. “We are in Him that is true, even in His Son…” I looked up “in” in the Greek. It means “inside of” as in, “He is in the bank,” meaning he is inside of the bank. So “walking in the Spirit” would mean we would be walking inside of God, as opposed to Him being light years away. As a Dimension He could be an invisible Spirit that is right here around us. Close.

He works in a dimension where nothing is impossible. With faith/belief “all things are possible. It is a dimension of restoration and healing. “If thou canst believe.. I must leave it there. It has turned into the beginning of another article I hope to share very soon. kwh

      • You are exactly right Dear one! When Thomas doubted and said I will not believe unless I put my hand in your side he was telling the Lord that all he was taught as he walked with Him he did not believe. This seems so impossible to fathom as to how could Thomas see and hear all he did when with the Lord? Even today there are people who forever doubt the good news of the gospel. We are no different as to choosing unbelief over taking the word of God at face value.
The Holy Spirit places us in what you call “The Dimension” and by His spirit we are guided into all truth! It allows us to walk in heavenly places. (Ephesians 2:6) And hath raised us up together, and made us sit together in heavenly places in Christ Jesus.

You wrote: “He works in a dimension where nothing is impossible. With faith/belief “all things are possible.” We are instructed to believe and not doubt, and therein lies the difference to those who say God cannot do the impossible, but WE KNOW BY FAITH He can do things even unexplainable things if within HIS WILL and dimension!
So good to talk with you. Be Blessed.

I guess you are not a fan of Billy Graham ! Have you ever been there ?
    ( I have )
Our God is bigger than you think, big or small groups He is there ! No one has the exclusive rights to hear Him whether you are by your self, small or big ! He can be 6 inches from your head or 50,000 years away !
Don’t limit God ! We are all in it together if we love Him and seek His direction !
True Christians should have a common bond and love for Him !
Not for argument ‘s sake !

Ken, here is a question for you !
When Jesus and the two thieves where on their crosses
How come the good thief rated being in Paradise with Jesus when he had’ never gone to Bible school !
What about the poor beggar Larzus being in Abraham’s bosum, how did he
    rate that ?
I always though good guys finish last !
You and I will be pleasantly surprised who will be in Heaven,
    Please excuse my spelling !

  6. Thanks for sharing this. Blessings to you and your readers. kwh
