Good Friday to Easter Sunday–Not 3 Days and 3 Nights in the Tomb

To fully comprehend and then believe what God is doing in the earth, how He is fulfilling His purpose of reproducing Himself by executing His plan, we must tie together several threads of the biblical tapestry. The threads have been cut and then unraveled through false conceptions spread by either unwitting, gullible, or downright “dark and designing knaves” who occupy the pulpits across Christian lands.

False teachings about Christ and His apostles and prophets are rife. They have settled into the pores of our grey matter. Generations upon generations have spread false teachings. Christ calls these false doctrines “old leaven.” It is a metaphor to show how they spread throughout the whole body, the whole loaf. We are to “purge out the old leaven that the lump may be holy” (   ). In other words, holiness cannot emerge in our spirits until false teachings are gotten rid of.

But how can we “purge out” the false teachings when all we have heard are those very same false concepts? Easter is upon us. Look this one over. I could pick the low hanging fruit on this one and expose the outright pagan rituals of having rabbits and eggs involved somehow with the resurrection of Christ. Nothing is in the Bible about doing  these practices, and yet the world celebrates the rebirth of nature by displaying the universal symbols of fertility. That is an easy one to point out, but it is not so easy to refrain from observing Easter this way. What would they say?

But there is even more false information about Easter that is much more serious. It concerns the amount of time that Christ was in the tomb. Millions today have gone to sunrise and Easter services and have reverently endeavored to commemorate the Resurrection of the Son of God. Millions have observed Good Friday, also, and they feel assured that their efforts are pleasing to the Most High God.

However, very few are aware that Friday afternoon through sunrise Sunday morning is only 36 hours. When the Pharisees demanded a sign that He was the Christ, He said, “There shall no sign be given…but the sign of the prophet Jonah: for as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth” (Matt. 12: 40-41). That is the sign, the only sign, as to Christ being who He said He was—our Savior. He did not say parts of three days, but three twelve hour days and three 12 hour nights.

But What Difference Does It Make?

I’ll answer that question with another question. If “Organized Christianity” can’t even get the one and only sign of the true Messiah right, then how can we trust them to teach us the deeper truths of God?

Hundreds of millions of professing Christians all over the world, many very sincere, will observe   Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Yet hardly any of them will realize that their pastors, priests, and bishops have taught them error and un-truths concerning their Savior Jesus Christ. How many other falsehoods are they teaching them? If the Catholic and Protestant denominations can’t even get the sign of the Savior right, how many other concepts that they teach about Christ and His gospel can be trusted? If they have this sign wrong, how many other doctrines and traditions are wrong as well?

What Is the Fruit of This Error?

I believe that they are teaching a different concept of the Savior and another gospel. Christ said, “You will know them by their fruits.” What is the fruit of all the studies done in all the seminaries with all their doctorates in Theology and Divinity and Philosophy? They have Christ in the tomb 36 hours! Please.

I share this, not to be disrespectful of anyone and their worship. All pilgrims to the Heavenly Jerusalem are at “way stations” at present. But I’m sharing this to alert those “who have an ear to hear” to dig deep! “Prove all things.” Know that if this only sign of the true Savior is off, then something is dreadfully wrong with the whole spiritual building!

I share this, not to be argumentative, but out of concern–a concern that honest seekers of God must be told the truth about this one true sign of who He is.

Yet, Organized Churchianity keeps slogging on, teaching tired old erroneous doctrines like this one–earnestly sharing half-truths, not realizing that “a little leaven (hypocrisy and falsehoods) leaveneth the whole lump.”

The Loose End Thread of Easter

There are many more false teachings about Christ and the Bible to be examined, understood, and straightened out in our spiritual lives. This is but one of them. Most people will not self-correct and answer God’s call to “Come out from among them and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you, and will be a Father unto you, and ye shall be my sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty” (II Cor. 6: 17; Rev. 18: 4).

A few will. Those who have gotten rid of the false concepts are the elect, the remnant, those chosen by Him to be His friends in these end times. They are the principals who will be used by the King to help usher in the Kingdom of God at the end of this world age. They will be used to fulfill His purpose spoken of above. They will respond and will be called into the pastures of heaven, to feed as His flock. They will drink of the living water because they were not afraid nor ashamed of Him that called them. Thus they will fulfill His purpose.  Kenneth Wayne Hancock

36 Hours from Good Friday to Easter Morning–Not 3 Days and 3 Nights

Millions today have gone to sunrise and Easter services and have reverently endeavored to commemorate the Resurrection of the Son of God. Millions have observed Good Friday, also, and they will feel assured that their efforts are pleasing to the Most High God.

However, very few are aware that this 36 hour time frame comes up about 36 hours short of the only sign that God has given us as to who is the true Messiah. When the Pharisees demanded a sign from Christ, He said, “There shall no sign be given…but the sign of the prophet Jonah: for as Jonah was three days and three nights in the belly of the great fish, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth” (Matt. 12: 40-41).

Some will say, So what is your point?  Tomayto, tomahto. 36 hours, 72 hours. No big deal, right? Perhaps if it were not the only sign that we have of the true Messiah. For there were and are many “messiahs” out there, as there are many concepts of the Messiah. Perhaps, it would not be a big deal if the prophecies had declared that the Messiah would rise from the dead somewhere between one and three days after the crucifixion. But they did not.

How Did This Happen?

Something is off somewhere. We need to dig into it. After all, aren’t we told by our very own Savior and Teacher to dig deep and build our house upon the rock. We must go deep, for if we just build our spiritual house on the earth and not dig down to the rock, our  house will not stand the floods of trials that will come, and great will be our ruin (Luke 6: 48-49).

How did this one and one half day gap come down to us in the 21st century? The same way we found out when  to observe Good Friday through Easter services. Somebody told us that those were the days to worship. Our parents said to us, Let’s get dressed up and go to church. It’s Easter! And, of course, we did not question it just like they did not question the pastor, preacher, or priest when they put out the call to worship on those days.

For all ministers were once  children who were told about this Easter weekend. And so, on and on it goes, back, back, back through the centuries to the days of the early church, to the time when somebody in power instituted these dates. And the vast majority, perhaps 99% of Christians have never pondered these things, nor the importance of them.

And so we must ask, Are the times for the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ  important to God? We know the current set up is important to the church organizations and the merchants who sell their candy bunnies and eggs and Easter bonnets, et al (That’s a whole other can of worms you can open and dig into by googling “Easter bunnies or Easter eggs”).

Is all this important to God for His people? We need only remember that He is holy and wants us to be holy and set apart for Him, that He is jealous, that He wants His people walking in the truth, that He does everything decently and in order and will not allow any strange incense on His altar, incense being a symbol of our prayers to Him.

To those who minimize the importance and inadvertently quote a current candidate for President by saying, “What difference does it really make? We are celebrating the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ”–I would say this: Would the following scenario be important to you?

You have gone to great expense to plan a wonderful three day vacation, 72 hours of family fun in the sun. You have purchased all the food and refreshments and paid in advance for the beach house rental with all the extras. You love your parents and siblings and their families, and this is your way of showing your love for them.

Every thing is paid for and provided beginning from Thursday at noon to Sunday at noon. So what happens? No one shows up until late Friday afternoon. You can’t believe it. You ask them, Why? And they say, We just thought this would be a better time. We’re here, so what is the problem?

You just shake your head and say, The problem is that I sent you all invitations with the dates and times clearly stated, and you led me to believe that it was all settled, but now….

You fill in the rest. I dare say that it would make a big difference. I think that it makes a big difference to God, as well.     Kenneth Wayne Hancock

Warning: Beware of Man’s Traditions About Christ

You ever notice how the apostles of Christ never warned the early Christians about the dangers of being deceived by the gods of the Greeks, Romans, Egyptians, Indians, Persians, et al. They weren’t concerned about Sol Invictus, the worship of the Sun god, nor the worship of the Roman Emperor, nor any of the invading mystery cult gods of the East.

They warned Christians about organized churches and synagogues who professed to know God even while they were being infected by the false teachings found in the worship of those very false gods.

Paul makes this clear: “For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness” (II Cor 11: 13-14).

Much to be gleaned here. First, there are false apostles, individuals who claim to be sent by Jesus Christ (Yahshua) with His message. Their stock in trade, however is deceit. How do they deceive would be followers of Christ? They “transform themselves into preachers, teachers, and priests of the God of the Bible.

“Transforming themselves” comes from the Greek words meta schema, which means “to change fashion.” Someone’s schema is “the habitus, as comprising everything in a person which strikes the senses, the figure, bearing, discourse, actions, manner of life” [1]. In other words, when you look at one of these “false apostles” of Christ, you see and hear someone who you would expect to be a man or woman of God. Their appearance, the way they carry themselves, their words about Christ, their actions in the community, and their “manner of life” testify as to their self-declaration that they are indeed a person of God.

The old way of checking out somebody–if they walk like a duck, and talk like a duck, and act like a duck, they must be a duck–does not work in this case. In fact, this is part of man’s wisdom that must be thrown away in order to go on to higher growth of discernment in God.

So Just Who Are These False Preachers, Teachers, and Priests?

Who are they? Just look around. Churches on many corners teach the “traditions of men.” Their leaders do not dig deep as Christ admonished us. They are content to poll parrot what they heard in seminary, joyfully passing on poisoned pablum to the lambs instead of the true vision.

And it just wasn’t a lone apostle Paul who warned us of these. The apostle Peter, who backs up Paul, warns of them, also (II Pet. 3: 15-16). After lining out the steps on the road to spiritual maturity and son ship, he warns us of them. “But there were also false prophets among the people, even as there will be false teachers among you, who will secretly bring in destructive heresies…And many will follow their destructive ways…” (2: 1-3  Read all of II Peter and Jude for the full picture).

In lieu of the many deceptions put forth by imposters–however sincere they may sound and appear–Paul warns us to not be spoiled through man’s philosophy and “vain deceit.” Young Christians can be deceived by man’s traditions “after the elements of this world” system. Being deceived comes from believing corrupt man’s spin on the Christian life. This comes from pagan traditions soldered onto Christ’s gospel (Col. 2: 8).

One need only thoroughly study out the major holidays of Easter, Halloween, and Christmas in order to see how man’s traditions have dominated “Christian” things the masses hold dear. It is astounding how deceived the oceans of people are, never questioning the source of their traditions. Sometimes I want to cry out, my arms stretched wide, my heart saying, Why do you persist in following pagan rites and traditions super-imposed upon Christian sounding observances? Even the History Channel has broadcast documentaries exposing the error of our holidays! And yet we slosh on and on, mired in the same false mudslides of the fetid river of lies. When will we ever learn as a nation, as a people?

But I know that the remnant of God’s people are learning. They know and discern the deceitful doctrines, and when they do, they turn away from the intoxicating fumes of those falsehoods about God.  Kenneth Wayne Hancock [to be continued]

Good Friday to Easter Morning Is 1 1/2 Days–Not 3 Days and 3 Nights Like Christ Said

Christ could not have been buried on Good Friday afternoon and resurrected early Easter Sunday morning because that would be only a day and a half in the tomb–about 36 hours.

“So what?” some may ask. “So what if it’s just a day and a half; it was part of three days. The important thing is that we believe that Christ arose.”

Yes, His resurrection is extremely important. But Christ Himself said that we should “dig deep and build our house on the Rock”–Him. We cannot remain superficial on this.

No Other Sign Given–Three days and Three Nights in the Tomb

Christ gave only one sign to unbelieving mankind–one sign that would point out who the true Savior is. His own words: “There shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas: for as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale’s belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth” (Matthew 12:39-40).

But how long is a day and night? Christ Himself said that there are “12 hours in the day” (John 11:9). That would mean that there are 12 hours in the night. This gives us the prophetical yardstick. Three 12 hours days is 36 hours; three 12 hours nights equals 36 hours. 36 and 36 is 72 hours total time in the tomb, in the “heart of the earth.”

But What Difference Does It Make?

I’ll answer that question with another question. If “Organized Christianity” can’t even get the one and only sign of the true Messiah right, then how can we trust them to teach us the deeper truths of God?

Hundreds of millions of professing Christians all over the world, many very sincere, will go to their respective church buildings and worship this Good Friday and Easter Sunday. Yet hardly any of them will realize that their pastors, priests, and bishops have taught them error and un-truths concerning their Savior Jesus Christ. Yet, Organized Churchianity keeps slugging on, teaching tired old erroneous doctrines like this one–earnestly sharing half-truths, not realizing that “a little leaven (hypocrisy and falsehoods) leaveneth the whole lump.”

Therefore, we are admonished to “purge out the old leaven that the lump may be holy.” We, the spiritual body of Christ, His church, are supposed to be that lump of dough that turns into the bread of life after we suffer the fiery trials of this oven-like existence here on earth. But we have to get rid of false doctrines and false concepts before we can be that holy bread of life that is to be broken and share with those hungering after righteousness. “Take, eat, this is my body.” We, His body, must be holy, and getting this right is a good place to start.
